2 lifeguards

Seasonal position 40%–50% 02.05.2027 German

The Badi Glarus (Ygruben Swimming Pool) has been the historic outdoor swimming complex of the municipality of Glarus since 1922 – with a listed north wing and a history stretching back over 100 years. It is a meeting place for all generations: for families with young children, school groups, sports enthusiasts and pensioners.

The Pro Badi Glarus association, with around 350 members, will continue to run the facility from 2027 onwards under a service agreement with the municipality. In accordance with our articles of association, our aim is to preserve, promote and further develop a publicly accessible swimming pool, to provide leisure and social activities that bring people of all ages together, and to ensure broad and affordable access for the entire population.

Supervision at the poolside is the most important factor in ensuring that all our guests feel safe – from toddlers to grandmothers.

Your responsibilities / What you bring to the role

· Pool supervision during the swimming pool’s opening hours

· Rescue and first aid as required

· Monitoring of water quality and pool systems (in consultation with the pool management)

· Maintaining cleanliness and order in the pool area, the toilet facilities and on the sunbathing lawn

· Assistance with events (school events, swimming lessons, family celebrations)

· Collaboration with the swimming pool management team and the pool of volunteers

· SLRG ‘Brevet Pro Pool’ or ‘Brevet Plus Pool’ certificate (current and valid) or a willingness to obtain the certificate by the start of the season

· Completion of a BLS-AED course (usually 4–8 hours, to be refreshed every 2 years) or willingness to undertake this course

· Experience in pool supervision at outdoor swimming pools is an advantage

· A sense of responsibility and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations

· A friendly manner when dealing with guests of all ages, even in conflict situations

· Ability to cope with the weather and work under pressure on hot days

· Willingness to work at weekends and on public holidays

· Residence in Glarus or the surrounding area is an advantage

People without a current certificate are also welcome to apply. Anyone who meets the personal requirements (good swimming ability, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to keep a clear head in difficult situations) and is prepared to complete the training in time for the start of the season will have a chance with us. The club will support you with your training and cover the course fees (certificate, BLS-AED, refresher courses). It would be ideal for the course to start in January/February 2027.

Here’s what we offer you
