How it all began...

organised by the initiative committee and actively supported by the whole community. A large bazaar and flea market in and outside the school building, a dance hall for the younger generation in the sports hall, the ‘Santenbergloch’ café in the wrestling cellar, the ‘Duzis-Stübli’ in the changing rooms of the sports hall, a cake and coffee shop in the village hall of the school building, a bar in the restaurant station, a beer bar in a warehouse at the Neumühle Egli, the ‘Blonde Mery’ pub (warehouse of the Wüest building firm), the ‘Napoli’ Ticino-style parlour in the Imbach factory hall, Hammerwerke, and the Jägerstube in the Schützenhaus. All the venues were decorated by volunteers. To visit the various venues, guests used the so-called ‘Spanisch-Brötli-Bahn’, which travelled from venue to venue, pulled by a jeep. A major prize skittles competition took place at the ‘Zur Pinte’ skittle alley, with all prizes being donated. At the hat stall, the balloon competition, the bolt-shooting game (Garage Egli, Neumühle), the bale-throwing game onto wooden targets with a flip mechanism (targets stuck with photos of the local councillors), bottle-smashing, the doll christening or the fairground attractions (carousel, swing boat, shooting gallery, motorway ride, etc.), visitors were able to spend their money. On Sundays, a go-kart race was held, which attracted a great many visitors. Children could be dropped off at the nursery free of charge. The net profit from this festival reached the very impressive sum of approximately CHF 40,000. This festival sparked the interest of neighbouring municipalities, which was of great significance for the realisation of the swimming pool. Over the two weekends, the official restaurants – the Adler, the Bahnhof and the Pinte – were closed.
