PRO BADI GLARUS: The association behind the swimming pool

A club for the swimming pool

At the end of March 2025, the Glarus Municipal Council announced that it would be suspending operations at the Badi Glarus in Ygruben for the 2025 summer season as part of cost-cutting measures. Swimmers and users then joined forces and founded the PRO BADI GLARUS association on 4 April 2025. The Glarner Gemeinnützige Foundation secured the 2025 season with a deficit guarantee of 150,000 Swiss francs.

From the very beginning, the association sought to engage in dialogue with the authorities. At the extraordinary general meeting on 15 September 2025, the members decided to work together with the local council. Since 2026, PRO BADI GLARUS has been gradually taking on operational responsibilities and running the Badi kiosk.

Purpose and Vision

The association pursues charitable and public-interest objectives. Its main focus is on the preservation, promotion and further development of the Badi Glarus public swimming pool in Ygruben. The association aims to promote sport, health, physical activity, social integration and culture; to provide leisure and social activities that bring people of all ages together; and to ensure broad, affordable access to the historic facility for the entire population.
